Bloemfontein Celtic will look to continue their climb up the Absa Premiership standings when they take on AmaZulu on Sunday afternoon at the Ulundi Stadium, kick-off is at 3:30pm.

Phunya Sele Sele are presently third on the log with 30 points which is a far cry from where they were at this time last season, hovering dangerously close to the bottom of the log.

Celtic’s upcoming opponents, however, are in fact hovering near the bottom of the league table lying in 13th spot on 18 points. They will be more than eager to pick up three points at home.

But coming up against Celtic will prove a tough challenge. Phunya Sele Sele are in fine form at present going unbeaten in their last four league games and picking up eight points. Most recently, in midweek they managed a convincing 3-0 win over Bidvest Wits.

AmaZulu, on the other hand, did not get anything out of their midweek game because their match against Kaizer Chiefs was called off due to bad weather. Usthu’s last match, therefore, was a 1-0 loss to Maritzburg United.

Last season saw AmaZulu take all six points in their Premiership league outings against Celtic. In the corresponding fixture in the 2008/09 season they won 1-0 and then in the reverse fixture they won 2-0. However, when they faced each other earlier in the 2009/10 league season they played to a 1-1 draw.

Overall, the two teams have faced each other in 37 official league encounters since 1985. Of those matches Celtic have won 15 games to Usuthu’s nine wins.

AmaZulu’s lineup from their 1-0 loss to Maritzburg consisted of: Mzimela; Bukasa Kasongo, Mkhonza, Bishop, van Heerden; N. Zwane (Mokoro 74’), Biyela (S. Dlamini 59’), Ngxabi (A. Dlamini 50’), Hadebe; Ngwenya, Ritson.

Celtics’ line-up from their 3-0 win over Wits consisted of: Tignyemb; Sambu, Goldstone, Khaile (Tsotetsi 23’), Motlhaping; Nthethe (Nhlapo 75’), Oerson, Olomu (Spandeel 60’), Segolela; Walaza, Kanono.
