“We want to climb higher up the league table” confirms Bloemfontein Celtic’s defender, Michael Khaile, ahead of his side’s Absa Premiership clash against a second from bottom MP Black Aces’ side on Saturday evening.

The match will take place at the Puma Rugby stadium in Mpumalanga, kick-off at 8:15pm.

The Phunya Sele Sele have shown some fine form of late and have gone unbeaten in their last five league matches which has seen them accumulate nine points and move up to sixth on the log. At the moment the men from Bloemfontein are only two points behind Orlando Pirates in fifth spot and are determined to catch them.

“We know there is only couple of games left and we are determined to win both of them. If we claim maximum points we could overtake Pirates and that is our goal at the moment” adds Khaile.

In order to do that they will first have to overcome a rugged looking Aces’ side who are scrapping for every single point at the moment with the fear of relegation driving them forward. “We don’t want to be relegated. We know we are in tough spot at the moment but we need to stay positive. Anything can still happen” says the AmaZayoni goalkeeper, Energy Murambadoro.

To be honest, things aren’t looking to rosy for Aces who were lucky to have their midweek game against Kaizer Chiefs called off due to bad weather. At the time the game was stopped they were trailing 1-0 and were being completely dominated.

Regarding their midweek performance Murambadoro admits “we didn’t get off to the best start, but that is history now and we will get a chance to replay that match. Now we are looking towards the Celtic game and how best to win that match.” The Chiefs versus Aces match will be replayed from scratch on Wednesday 24th March.

The Phunya Sele Sele’s midweek match saw them play to an exciting 2-2 draw with Golden Arrows. Only a late goal from Arrows’ Joseph Musonda robbed Celtic of the win. “We were extremely unlucky not to get the full three points against Arrows. We played well and are looking to take that form into the game against Aces” suggest Khaile.

When the two teams faced each other earlier in the 2009/10 PSL season Celtic were by far the superior team walking away victorious by two goals to nil thanks to goals from Cecil Oerson and Prince Olomu.

It will be a tough challenge for the side from Mpumalanga who have yet to prove, this entire season, that they are worth their place in the South African top flight. They have their remaining three league games to prove the critics wrong.

Celtic, on the other hand, have been great this season and are a far cry from their disappointing 14th place finish in the 2008/09 league season. This year they are eight places higher and are hoping to finish in fifth spot.
