Rudi Krol believes that his side can repeat the feat of the 1-0 win over Celtic a month ago at the same venue, but in the Telkom Knockout tournament. Pirates crashed out in the TKO semi-finals to Kaizer Chiefs.
“We always believe we can beat any side in the league, whether it’s Celtic or any other side,” said the former Dutch international. “It’s important that we forget about what happened in the match against Chiefs and move forward and realize that we have a match to win on Wednesday.”
The coach was not perturbed by the fact that they lost to Celtic in the last sixteen of the very same competition last year; instead he stressed the importance of playing their normal game and not worrying about results from last season.
“Yes, we lost to them last year in the Nedbank Cup, but we also beat in the Telkom. We have to make sure that we repeat what we did in the Telkom Cup and beat them. It is important that we play our normal game and not worry too much about results from the previous season.” said the former Zamalek coach.
A player who performed with aplomb against Amakhosi in Durban, Senzo Meyiwa, is adamant that his side will prevail against Celtic despite the return of Tlou Segolelo in the Celtic’s line-up.
“We are aware that he (Segolelo) is back, but we know that we have a great squad that can do the job against any team,” said Pirates’ number one.
The match will be live on SS4, kick-off 7:30pm
